Sacraments
The seven sacraments—Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Communion, Confession, Marriage, Holy Orders, and the Anointing of the Sick—are the life of the Catholic Church. Each sacrament is an outward sign of an inward grace. When we participate in them worthily, each provides us with graces—with the life of God in our soul. In worship, we give to God that which we owe Him; in the sacraments, He gives us the graces necessary to live a truly human life.
Are you looking forward to celebrating the Sacrament of Baptism for your infant or toddler in the near future? The OLG Faith Community welcomes you and your child! AGES: birth - 6 years old.
-Call the Parish Center, 818-342-4686, to make an appointment for both parents.
-It is generally expected and best for baptisms to be done in the parents local church. If you belong to another parish, and would like to baptize your child at OLG for a special reason, secure a document that you have completed their pre-Baptism requirements and have permission to baptize your child at OLG.
-Baptism Matters Class. Adults only attend this class. The class meets on the Second Sunday of the month. The class begins at 10:30 AM, in the Parish Center, St. Joseph's Room.
-Reservations for the Baptism date are made after the parents and godparents attend the Baptism Matters class.
There is a special program for children who are 7 years old or older. Contact Sr. Jennifer for more information about older children. (818-342-4686, ex. 206)
Annointing of the Sick
Performed to convey God’s grace to the recipient, through the power of the Holy Spirit
Contact the Parish at 818-342-4686
Please note that this sacrament is to mediate the healing power of Jesus to the sick. It is not primarily the sacrament of the dying. Thus it is best not to leave it until someone is in their last moments. You are also invited to celebrate it before surgery or at any time of serious illness.
Penance (Reconciliation)
Saturdays - 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. & 7:30 to 8:00 p.m.
First Friday of the Month - 5:15 to 5:45 p.m
Call the Parish Center to make other arrangements with a priest. 818-342-4686
The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Penance or Confession) was given to us by Christ to help us reconcile with Christ and his Church when we have committed harm. Through the Sacrament, we acknowledge our sins, express our sorrow in a meaningful way, receive the forgiveness of Christ and his Church, make reparation for what we have done and resolve to do better in the future.
Holy Communion

While Catholics in the West today normally make their First Communion before they receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, the Sacrament of Holy Communion, the reception of Christ's Body and Blood, was historically the third of the three sacraments of initiation. This sacrament is the source of great graces that sanctify us and help us grow in the likeness of Jesus Christ.
Confirmation
Youth Confirmation begins in 9th Grade
Contact Barrie, 818-342-4686, ex. 212
Adult Confirmation for ages 18+
Contact Sr. Milda Avila: 818-342-4686
The Sacrament of Confirmation is the second of the three sacraments of initiation because, historically, it was administered immediately after the Sacrament of Baptism. Confirmation perfects our baptism and brings us the graces of the Holy Spirit that were granted to the Apostles on Pentecost Sunday.
Marriage
Contact the Parish Center at least six months before the wedding.
818- 342-4686
For those getting married in the Catholic Church, the highpoint of the wedding day is the wedding liturgy, where bride and groom become husband and wife in the lifelong covenant of marriage (a sacrament for baptized Christians). Thoughtful, prayerful planning and participation in your Catholic wedding ceremony will bring many blessings to your married life.
